When it comes to residential interior design, especially in Bangalore India, it is important to look closely at the family you are designing for. In Bangalore, of late, we have seen families from all over india settle down and build homes and roots for the sheer opportunities our city offers. This home was built for one of these growing families. They wanted a home that spoke to the grandeur and luxury of where they came from while retaining an elegant, modern feeling.

Keeping that in mind, the concept was elegant maximalism, not in terms of colour, no, but in terms of materials, texture, look and feel. Whether it is making a statement right at the foyer, or the mix of geometry and traditional motifs in the dining space, this project is truly reflective of the more eclectic elements of our clients’ personalities.

Like we’ve talked about above, the foyer had to make a statement as soon as someone enters the house. So we decided to bring a mirrored element to the foyer but only partially so that it would not become visually overwhelming. The graphic lines are a favourite of our client and so we’ve used them as a repeated element in various forms through the house.

One of the interesting things we got to play with in this project is the use of colour in the common spaces. Our clients seemed to naturally gravitate towards jewel tones and we decided to stick with that palette and draw from contrasting ends of the spectrum when it came to choosing the colours for walls, soft furnishings, etc.

Another feature that our clients were very specific about was the quality and distribution of light amongst all the spaces. We’ve used the ceilings to make sure that every room is lit from the top and every space has reflective sources for the light to bounce off of.
